Celebrating National Cat Day

October 15, 2019

Did you know that there’s a very special kitty holiday coming up later this month? October 29th is National Cat Day! Our feline friends truly enrich and brighten up our lives, and keep us smiling with their adorable antics. Read on as a Seminole, FL vet offers some advice on celebrating Fluffy’s special day.

Toys

Pick up a few new playthings for your kitty, and then spend some time playing with her. This will benefit your pet both physically and mentally. We’re pretty sure it will put a smile on your face as well!

Treats

Although cats are more finicky than our canine pals, most of these little furballs do have a few favorite snacks. Plain canned tuna in water, as you probably know, is one of Fluffy’s favorites. Your kitty may also enjoy some shredded deli meat, sodium-free broth, or cooked, unseasoned fish or poultry, without the bones or fat. Store bought treats are also fine.

Furniture

Fluffy isn’t shy about making herself comfy on our beds and couches. However, she’ll definitely enjoy something that was made to fit her. A new bed will get that little motor going! You can also offer your furball a cat tower or a scratching post. If your budget is too tight, go the DIY route and make your kitty’s things.

Window Seat

Does your pet have a comfy spot before a window with a good view? If not, make her one! This will allow Fluffy to combine her three favorite things: sleeping, sunbathing, and birdwatching.

Catnip

Fluffy’s catnip obsession will always be adorable. Offer your furball a catnip toy, and then settle back to watch the fun!

Cuddles

Kitties are always happiest when they feel loved and safe. Spend some quality time with your furry little  friend. Talk to her, offer her lots of snuggles, or just let her curl up on your lap.

Photos

There’s simply no such thing as too many cat photos. Take some super cute pics of Fluffy!

Adopt

This one is by no means a one-size-fits-all recommendation. Adopting a cat is a huge decision! That said, if you’ve been considering adopting a kitty, and your household and budget can handle it, go for it! Just be sure you’re ready to make a lifetime commitment.
